Oil Pulling for an Oral Detox

Finding inexpensive and simple ways to detox our bodies is always a positive thing, as many techniques which claim to help us rid ourselves of bacteria and toxins often end up being very expensive or time consuming.

Oil Pulling is a fantastic way to give yourself an oral detox, within just 2-5 minutes if you use a tooth oil with a number of active ingredients, and it comes with a whole range of benefits which will make your mouth clean and healthy, give you a great smile, and possibly improve your overall wellness too.

What is Oil Pulling?

Oil Pulling is an ancient Ayurvedic oral cleansing technique which has been practiced for thousands of years, and is thought to be a simple way to rid the mouth, teeth, and gums of toxins, which can also help to improve overall wellness.

When the body rids itself of toxins during the night, a lot of them end up in the mouth, and when we eat or drink first thing in the morning it can cause us to ingest this bacteria again, giving the body even more work to do.

By cleansing the mouth of these toxins as soon as we wake up, we can ensure that they do not re-enter our bodies, and Oil Pulling with vegan tooth oil is an effective way to do this.

How to Oil Pull

The technique is called Oil Pulling because the oil ‘pulls’ bacteria from crevices in the teeth and gums, and holds it until it is spat out.

In order to try Oil Pulling for yourself, simply put half a teaspoon of vegan tooth oil in your mouth and swish it around, ensuring that it goes between your teeth and around your gums. The oil will expand as it gathers bacteria, and will turn a milky white colour as it mixes with your saliva.

If you use an oil which contains a number of ingredients, such as the Ringana Tooth Oil, you will only need to oil pull for 2-5 minutes, whereas other oils which just contain one ingredient, such as coconut or sesame, require up to 20 minutes of oil pulling time.

During a busy morning, 20 minutes is a long time to carry out this technique, whereas a 2-5 minute oil pulling session can be completed whilst in the shower, checking messages, or preparing breakfast.

This is why people tend to have more success with oil pulling when they use an oil with a combination of ingredients, as they are less likely to get frustrated and give up.

Once you have swished the oil around for the recommended time, simply spit it out and rinse your mouth with water, you can also run a wet toothbrush over your teeth too if you like.

As this natural oil also contains micro cleansing particles, you don’t need to worry about spending time flossing your teeth if you decide to give Oil Pulling a try, as these particles will gently floss your teeth, and remove and plaque deposits, while you swish the oil between them.

Oil Pulling Benefits

There are plenty of benefits associated with Oil Pulling including whiter teeth, a reduction in teeth sensitivity and gum problems, and a noticeable difference in breath freshness has been reported from those who have suffered from halitosis.

Plus, you can easily oil pull on the go if you need to freshen your mouth during the day, as vegan tooth oil is far easier to carry around with you than a toothbrush, toothpaste, and dental floss!

Oil Pulling provides a long-lasting freshness, and preserves teeth and gums, cleanses the whole mouth, and can potentially help to detox the body by ridding it of toxins too.

An inexpensive and unharmful alternative to toothpaste, Oil Pulling with vegan tooth oil can have the same positive effects as both brushing and flossing your teeth, whilst being natural, organic, and sustainable.

Oil Pulling has been found to be a harmless oral detox technique to try, and it costs very little to get started, so why not add it to your morning routine and enjoy all of the great benefits that it has to offer.
